Diet for inflammation of the duodenum

General rules

The duodenum is the initial section of the small intestine that follows the stomach and the acidic contents of the latter enter it. Duodenal inflammation is called duodenitis, and it is rarely isolated (more often occurs in conjunction with gastritis).

Gastritis, duodenitis and peptic ulcer - common acid-dependent diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. They develop in violation of the balance of aggressive and protective factors of the mucous membrane. One of the factors of aggression is the pyloric helicobacter. Intestinal acidification associated with infection Helicobacter pyloricauses inflammation. A factor provoking the disease is duodenostasis (violation of the passage of food through the duodenum). PresenceH. Pylori increases the sensitivity of the mucous membrane to action of hydrochloric acid and predisposes to the fact that erosion of the mucosa appears. Chronic duodenitisoften the result of malnutrition.

The patient has complaints similar to those of peptic ulcer: pain in the right hypochondrium, aggravating 1.5 hours after eating, night pain, belching, nausea, heartburn. Nausea indicates an increase in pressure in the duodenum, which occurs with violations of the evacuation function of the stomach and intestines. In the treatment of this disease, attention is paid to nutrition.

With inflammation of the duodenum, therapeutic nutrition is aimed at reducing inflammation. This is achieved by excluding from the diet dishes and products that have an irritating effect (spices, spices, coarse vegetables, smoked meats, fatty foods, pickles, refractory fats, fatty meat and fish). The use of mashed dishes and frequent meals in small portions determines the mechanical sparing of the mucosa. It is noted that the use of sparing food under the regimen significantly reduces inflammation. The physiological content of protein in the diet promotes scarring of erosion.

The purpose of a particular diet depends on the severity of the process (catarrhal inflammation or erosion) and the acidity of the gastric juice. At gastroduodenitis with high acidity appoint a table first No. 1A, then No. 1B and №1, with secretory insufficiency - Table number 2. Consistent administration of a more gentle diet No. 1A (up to 7 days) 1B (up to 14 days) and №1 (up to 6 months) gradually prepares the digestive tract and contributes to a longer remission. It should be noted that most often duodenitis occurs against a background of increased secretory activity of the stomach.

Diet when erosion 12 duodenal ulcer should be more gentle, especially at first, so the appointment will be reasonable Tables No. 1A for up to 7 days. This diet is not balanced and low-calorie (1800-1900 kcal). It reduced the amount of protein and fat (up to 80 g) and limited carbohydrates (up to 200 g).

  • 6 meals are organized with restriction of food intake at a time.
  • Food is prepared in liquid and mushy form. All dishes are boiled, wiped and diluted to a semi-liquid state with water.
  • Mashed oat, semolina, rice or flour soups for baby food. Cream, egg-milk mixture and butter are added to soups.
  • Meat and fish dishes (steam souffle) are consumed once a day. To do this, boiled meat or fish is passed through a meat grinder or whipped in a blender and a soufflé is prepared.
  • Porridge (buckwheat, oatmeal, rice) is cooked in water or milk, rubbed and add butter.
  • Jelly from fruits (fruits themselves cannot be consumed).
  • Milk, calcined cottage cheese, milk jelly.
  • Steam omelet or soft-boiled eggs (daily or every other day).
  • Excretion pathogens (marinades, strong tea, any broth, ear, coffee, carbonated drinks, mustard, alcohol) and irritants (fried foods, hard meat, mushrooms, poultry and fish skin, any vegetables and fruits) are excluded.
  • It is forbidden to use cold and hot dishes.

When the process subsides, the diet with inflammation of the duodenum expands and is organized in the redistribution Tables No. 1B. Into food are entered:

  • Puree food.
  • Meat and fish dishes in the form of steam cutlets, dumplings, mashed potatoes.
  • Vegetable and fruit purees (canned foods for baby food).
  • Some vegetables (potatoes, carrots, beets) in the form of mashed potatoes.
  • Still excluded are broths, coarse foods, mushrooms, marinades, pickles, hard meat, fish and chicken with skin, spices, seasonings, fried foods.
  • Meals 6 times a day.

In this diet, the amount of protein and fat is increased to 100 g, as well as the total calorie content. Protein is replenished due to dairy products, as more easily digestible. Introduced new products (vegetables) and dishes prepared using a different technology (meatballs, dumplings, mashed potatoes). The timing of compliance with this diet is individual - it depends on the condition of the patient (10-30 days).

With the transition to the main Table number 1, which is observed for 3-6 months, the principles of gastrointestinal tract sparing, but moderate, are also preserved, and fractional nutrition is also recommended. Excluded and recommended products are described in more detail below.

Feedback and Results

Main Table number 1 significantly expanded in terms of products and processing methods, which makes it diverse and easily portable. It includes basic cereals, vegetables, meat, fish and dairy products. It contains the norm of protein and fat and can be prescribed for a long period. In patients' reviews, it is noted that dietary nutrition for duodenitis is performed up to 2.5 months, and then gradually expands. Everyone notes its positive effect on the state of the gastrointestinal tract as a whole: heartburn and pain disappear, bloating and nausea disappear.

  • "... With exacerbation of duodenitis, I manage without a hospital. I do gastroscopy, a gastroenterologist prescribes treatment and diet. It helps me, although it does bring additional troubles - you need to cook separately mashed soups and steam dishes. However, I only eat mashed ones for a week, and then I turn to an un-mashed dietary table. At this time I cook for everyone, and the family does not mind. You can eat almost all known cereals, mashed vegetables or boiled and chopped vegetable additives. I don’t add any spices, except for boiled twisted onions in cutlets. Sometimes there is a desire to eat something fried and smoked, but I strictly stand it for two months. On this food, I usually lose weight up to 4 tog ";
  • "... When erosion in the duodenum was on this diet for 2.5 months, despite the fact that after 14 days, erosion healed. In the hospital I was on a strict mashed diet, and already at home I switched to a lesser mashed one and ate vegetables in the form of mashed potatoes. I was adapted to make meat puddings and meat soufflés, meatballs for 2 days, and boiled various gruel cereals for them. Restrictions in nutrition quickly affected weight - as a result, for 2.5 months she lost 6 kg. This is understandable, as compared with the usual diet, eating less overall, dropped out at this time, pastries and cakes, fried foods, sweets, chocolate, nuts. I think that it is necessary to monitor nutrition more carefully in the future - the doctor said that diet and frequent meals are important";
  • "... Frequent exacerbations of gastritis and duodenitis in me are associated with irregular diet, dry food and nerves. True, there are no severe exacerbations, so I can do without a hospital. Immediately begin treatment (it is prescribed by a doctor) and a gastric diet. The first month I endure it well, and then it bothers. Since nothing is bothering by this time, all sorts of violations begin (smoked sausage, fried meatballs and potatoes), but little by little. I can’t eat spicy dishes, spices and sauces, as pains immediately appear. Still bad from yeast baking - belching and bloating. So gradually studied the reaction of the body and excluded them from nutrition".

Diet price

The products of this dietary table are affordable and relatively inexpensive (with the exception of meat and fish). The cost of a weekly meal is 1400-1450 rubles.
